“American Race” artist Chido Johnson

Born in Nyadiri, Zimbabwe, Chido Johnson received BFA’s in both sculpture and painting from the University of Georgia and an MFA in sculpture from the University of Notre Dame in 2000. Johnson explores the complexities of cultural identity through sculpture and installation art. His work continuously addresses “transformations within identity and placements” while attempting to find a way to integrate his African heritage with his Euro-American heritage.

I had planned on getting another artist in this post but this weekend has been crazy long, so I will get a couple posted tomorrow evening for your enjoyment.

The aim of art is to represent not the outward appearance of things, but their inward significance.” Aristotle
