In 1999 Robert Gerhardt received his B.A. in Anthropology/Sociology and Art History. Photography has been a part of his life from childhood and in 2007 he received his M.F.A. in photography. His work has been exhibited in galleries and is held in private collections throughout the United States and Europe.
In the series “The Strapholders” Robert Gerhardt tackles everyday moments on the New York subways. This series of photographs convey singular private moments and at the same time express the immense diversity of our shared humanity. Gerhardt’s work reaches out and allows the viewer to feel the reality of the world in his photographs.
